The exact system I use to create, launch, and sell digital products on repeat

How to Create Pinterest Pins That Get Clicks (5 Proven Types + Simple Formula)

If you’ve ever spent time creating Pinterest pins — designing them, writing captions, scheduling them — only to hear crickets… you’re not alone.

I’ve been there.

When I first started using Pinterest for my business, I thought it was just about posting consistently. More pins = more traffic, right?

Not quite.

What I quickly realised (after a lot of trial, error, and late nights in Canva 😅) is this:

👉 It’s not about how many pins you create
👉 It’s about what kind of pins you create — and how you write them

Once I understood that, everything changed.

My clicks increased.

My traffic became consistent.

And Pinterest became one of my most reliable sources of organic growth.

So in this post, I’m breaking down exactly what I now teach my clients and coaching groups:

The 5 types of Pinterest pins that actually get clicks
How to write pin titles that grab attention
How to write descriptions that turn clicks into action

Let’s dive in.

Pinterest isn’t magic.
Pinterest is a
system.

The 5 Types of Pinterest Pins That Get Clicks

Not all pins perform the same — and once you understand this, your strategy becomes so much simpler.

Here are the five types of pins I use (and teach) on repeat:

1. How-To Pins (Your Traffic Drivers)

These are some of the best-performing pins on Pinterest — because the provide the solution to what people are actively searching for.

Think of Pinterest like a search engine (because it is). People are typing in things like:

  • “How to grow an email list”

  • “How to start a digital product business”

If your content answers that question, you’re in a very strong position to get clicks.

Examples:

  • How to Grow Your Email List with Pinterest

  • How to Start a Digital Product Business

If your audience is asking “how do I…”, this is your go-to pin type.

2. Listicle Pins (Easy Wins)

List-style content is incredibly clickable because it feels simple and digestible.

People love the idea of getting quick wins without feeling overwhelmed.

Examples:

  • 10 Pinterest Tips for Beginners

These are perfect if you want to:
✔ Share value quickly
✔ Increase saves
✔ Encourage clicks

3. Statement Pins (Scroll-Stoppers)

These are bold, opinion-based pins that grab attention instantly.

They work because they either:

  • Challenge what someone believes

  • Or say exactly what someone is already thinking

Examples:

  • Your Pinterest Strategy Isn’t Working (Here’s Why)

  • Stop Posting Daily — Do This Instead

These are powerful when you want to stand out in a crowded feed.

4. Solution Pins (Problem + Fix)

These speak directly to your audience’s pain points — and offer a clear solution.

If your ideal client is feeling stuck, frustrated, or overwhelmed, this is the type of pin that will resonate most.

Examples:

  • Not Getting Traffic? Try This Pinterest Strategy

  • Struggling to Make Sales? Read This

These convert well because they feel personal and relevant.

5. Curiosity Pins (The Click Magnets)

These are designed to create intrigue — they don’t give everything away.

Instead, they make people need to click to find out more.

Examples:

  • This Pinterest Strategy Changed Everything

  • I Tried This for 30 Days…

These work because they open a loop — and people want to close it.

Everything you need to create, launch, and sell digital products — in one simple system.

Why This Changed Everything for Me

Once I started using these 5 pin types intentionally, my Pinterest strategy became so much easier.

Instead of sitting there wondering:

“What should I post today?”

I had a clear structure.

And more importantly — my content started performing.

I wasn’t just posting anymore…

I was creating pins designed to get clicks

How to Write Pinterest Titles That Get Clicks

Your pin title is your first impression.

If it doesn’t grab attention or feel relevant, people will scroll straight past it — no matter how good your content is.

Here’s the simple formula I use:

Keyword + Benefit + Curiosity (optional)

Your title should:
✔ Be clear
✔ Include keywords
✔ Make someone want to click

Examples:

  • How to Grow Your Email List with Pinterest

  • 5 Pinterest Tips That Actually Drive Traffic

  • This Pinterest Strategy Changed Everything

How to Write Pin Descriptions That Convert

If your title gets the click…

Your description helps turn that click into action.

This is where most people overcomplicate things — but it doesn’t need to be.

Use this simple 4-step formula:

Every pin description should answer:

1️⃣ What is this?
2️⃣ Who is it for?
3️⃣ What will they learn/get?
4️⃣ Where do they go? (CTA)

Example:

Title:

✔ Use the title formula
✔ Follow the description structure

👉 You’re no longer just posting
👉 You’re building a traffic system
