Before You Spend Another Weekend Creating a Product...
Most digital product creators ask themselves this question after they've finished creating:
"Will this sell?"
By then, it's too late.
Let's turn that around and score your Product Idea before you invest your time.
In just a few minutes you'll discover whether your idea is ready to buildβor whether it needs a little more work first to guarantee sales.
Hi, I'm Clare π
A few years ago, I was exactly where you are now.
I had no background in digital products, no big audience and no roadmapβI simply wanted to build a business that gave me more freedom and flexibility.
So I started learning.
One product at a time.
One Pinterest pin at a time.
One lesson at a time.
Since then, I've built and sold digital products, grown my business through Pinterest, worked with clients to increase their traffic, and helped other business owners discover that success doesn't come from creating moreβ

it comes from creating the right products and helping the right people find them.
That's why I created this guide.
My hope is that it saves you the time, frustration and guesswork that so many of us go through at the beginning.
Let's get started.
These are the exact questions I walk myself through before creating a New Product.
R. E. S. E. A. R. C. H
Not only do they validate the idea, they also help me map out the customer journey . . . what is your customer searching for, what do they need help with, how can you help them?
Don't expect every answer to be GREENβthat's not the goal.
The goal is to uncover any weak spots before you invest time creating something that doesn't move your business forward.
As we work through each question, simply decide whether you're:
π’ GREEN β You're on the right track.
π‘ AMBER β There's room to strengthen your idea.
π΄ RED β Stop and rethink before moving on.
R β Research the Demand
Ask yourself:
Are people already searching for this product?
Look on Etsy, Pinterest and Google.
Can you find similar products?
Are people asking questions about this topic?
Are creators already solving this problem?
π’ GREEN You've found clear evidence that people are actively looking for this type of product.
Fantastic! Move on to the next question.
π‘ AMBER You've found a little evidence, but not enough to feel confident.
Spend another 15β20 minutes researching before committing to your idea.
π΄ RED You can't find anyone searching for this topic.
That doesn't mean it's a bad ideaβbut it does mean you need stronger proof before you invest your time creating it.
E β Evaluate the Opportunity
Ask yourself:
Is this a good business opportunity?
Just because people are searching for something doesn't automatically mean it's worth creating.
Think about:
Is there healthy demand? (are similar products making sales? Are people already asking your to create it? If you put out a poll would you get a positive response?)
Can you offer something better or different?
Would someone happily pay for this solution?
π’ GREEN The opportunity looks strong, and you can clearly see how your product would add value.
π‘ AMBER There's demand, but you'll need to think carefully about how to stand out. (adding extra value is always a great way of standing out)
π΄ RED You're entering a market without a clear point of difference.
Take some time to refine your idea before moving forward.
S β Solve a Real Problem
Ask yourself:
What problem does this product solve?
Remember...
People don't buy digital products.
They buy solutions.
If you can't clearly explain the problem your product solves in one sentence, your customer probably won't understand it either.
π’ GREEN Your product solves one specific problem, and the benefit is immediately obvious.
π‘ AMBER Your product is useful, but the outcome isn't yet crystal clear.
Can you make the promise more specific?
π΄ RED If your product doesn't solve a real problem, maybe this idea is part of a bigger picture . What is the initial problem your customer would need help with. For example if you are offering
E β Establish Your Ideal Customer
Ask yourself:
Is this the type of customer you want to attract?
This is one of the most important questions in the entire guide.
A product can sell well and still attract the wrong audience.
Think long-term.
Could this customer benefit from your future products?
Would they be interested in your services?
Are you building the kind of business you actually want?
π’ GREEN This product attracts the exact type of customer you want to build your business around.
π‘ AMBER Some buyers will be a good fit, but others may never become part of your long-term audience, but thats ok.
π΄ RED This product may only attract customers that will buy from you once. This is ok, but long term you want to build a customer base that will buy from you over and over again, and may upsell to your higher value products in time. This does not me don't go ahead with your product, but it takes a lot of effort to keep selling to once off buyers
A β Add More Value
Ask yourself:
How can I make this offer irresistible?
Don't just sell a template.
Think about what else could help your customer succeed.
Could you include:
a checklist?
a planner?
swipe files?
bonus templates?
quick-start instructions?
π’ GREEN Your product offers exceptional value and clearly stands out from similar products.
π‘ AMBER You've got a good product, but a few thoughtful bonuses could make it much more appealing.
π΄ RED If your offer looks just like everyone else's, ask yourself wat can I add yo make my product more valuable.
R β Reach the Right People
Ask yourself:
How will people discover this product?
Creating the product is always only half the job π
Now think about visibility.
Could you promote it through:
Pinterest?
Etsy search?
Google?
your email list?
Social Media
π’ GREEN You've already thought about how you'll attract visitors and generate traffic.
π‘ AMBER You have a product, but your marketing plan needs a little more attention.
π΄ RED You haven't thought about it yet. Don't let this deter you from creating a great product, but bear in mind, people need to know its available before they will buy it.
C β Create with Confidence
Ask yourself:
Can I create this simply and well?
Don't overcomplicate it.
Can you realistically create a high-quality version without spending weeks on it?
Remember, done is often better than perfect.
π’ GREEN You're ready to create with confidence.
π‘ AMBER Break the project into smaller steps so it feels manageable.
π΄ RED If this project feels overwhelming before you've even started, simplify it.
H β Have a Growth Plan
Ask yourself:
Where could this product lead next?
The best digital products don't exist on their own.
Think about what happens after someone buys.
Could this product lead to:
another digital product?
a bundle?
a course?
a service?
ongoing support?
π’ GREEN This product fits naturally into your bigger business and helps move customers to the next stage of their journey.
π‘ AMBER You have a good product, but think about what logical next step you could offer your customer.
π΄ RED If this product is a one-off with nowhere to go, you're missing an opportunity to build long-term customer relationships.
